- Classroom spaces have been reassigned to large multipurpose areas and desks have been separated in order to implement protocols for social distancing.
- All rooms have been furnished with Zoom capability.
- Partitions have been implemented to separate the teacher’s desk from the larger classroom.
Your Daughter’s Preparation for Returning to School
- All students are required to submit medical forms indicating that they have tested for COVID-19 within a week prior to the school year.
- Any student who has traveled from abroad or from any US “hot spots” must quarantine for 14 days prior to the first week of school.
School Protocols which will be Maintained while Classes are in Session
- Teachers will wear protective shields while instructing students or remain behind the plastic partition.
- Students will be expected to wear masks while commuting and within the school building.
- On a daily basis, all surfaces will be disinfected and the school building will be sanitized.
- Arrival and dismissal times will be staggered to ensure proper social distancing.
- Breakfast will be served individually in each classroom.
- Traditional assemblies such as communal davening, lunchtimes, the weekly activity period and the Friday Erev Shabbos assembly will no longer take place in our School Library. All of these activities will take place in the classrooms.
- For Elective Classes, plastic partitions will separate students of grade eleven and twelve.
- Teachers will rotate between classes in order to minimize exposure of students and hallway movement will be restricted.
- Our medical personnel, including Dr. Israel Deutsch, Board Member and Medical Consultant, Rabbi Storch, Resident EMT, and Mrs. Weisz-Hirsch will continue to keep you apprised of all developments related to COVID-19.
- We will continue to require any potentially infected individual to inform us and we will follow the quarantine protocols of New York State Contact Tracing Program.
Plans for School Enrichment Events
- Our traditional museum trips will be replaced with virtual tours and live city architectural tours and visits.
- We have scheduled routine trips to Central Park which will allow our students to interact and engage with friends from other classes.
- We are in the process of contracting CUNY Hunter College’s assembly hall (1,000 person capacity) for bi-monthly assemblies.
- Parent planning and informational sessions will be held virtually.
Essential Messages
- We ask that anyone experiencing symptoms of any kind remain at home until the symptoms subside.
- If any student or family member tests positive for COVID-19, that student is required to remain at home, notify the school and to take a Covid test before returning. Any student that has been exposed to a known positive Covid case is required to take a COVID-19 test.
- Throughout the school year or until further notice, a student must quarantine for 14 days upon return from travel to any US “hot spot” or international destination and must also take a Covid test.
- We ask that your daughter honors the protocols outlined for healthy and safe interactions both in school and on the bus.
- Students who are home either due to ill health or safety concerns will have full access to Zoom classes and will not be penalized.
